Email This Post Ok, lousy title, I know but that was a real question I once asked my trainer (ex-trainer).
I had been going to the gym forever and training with him for over a year, and although I did see some improvement I was beginning to notice my shoulder development lagging behind [...]
Have you done yoga before? The benefits of yoga are said to be not only physical, but also mental, and spiritual. But what is yoga anyways?
According to Bikram Choudhury (Hatha) Yoga is a discipline that started over 4,000 years ago in India. Yoga, he says is for everyone and every body. The Yoga routine consists of a series of exercises known as poses.
There are quite a few different “types” of yoga, the most popular ones are:

Today is day number 62 of my 90 day challenge (where I want to see how much I can improve in this relatively short period of time).
My initial weight was about 167 lbs, today I am at 173, most of which is muscle. There is some body fat, which I will focus [...]

Strength training, as you probably figured out, is not only good for your arms. Strength training increases your muscle mass giving you that sexy shape you are looking for, and as if that was not good enough, researchers have proven that strength training help you burn fat fast. Our bodies produce lactic acid when we perform any kind of exercise. As the body demand for energy increases the production of lactic acid increases as well. I have been very busy lately, but I have had time to keep track of my meals and my exercises for the entire week! This is good news! I gained about 1 1/2 pound this week (this is what I wanted), hopefully most of it is muscle and not fat, but I haven’t [...]
Sugar in large quantities before your exercise can have a negative impact on you. I know this first hand. Having a glass of juice, a piece of cake, cookies, or a glass of coke, or any other soda can make you dizzy while you workout. Why does this happen? I found a really interesting article on MSNBC that talks about mini workouts. The idea is great. Basically whenever you have a little down time you exercise.
Pretend you are sitting at your desk, the phone finally stopped ringing and the pile of papers is gone. You think about running to Starbucks, but wait! Continue reading Workout During your Break?
The number of exercises we can do at home are many. Most of them require us to use our body weight as resistance (and these are great because no equipment is required). I believe that if you are going to be doing most of your workouts at home you need at the very least a set of dumbbells, a swiss ball, and a medicine ball.
A yoga mat would also be helpful. It not only serves as a cushion, but it will also prevent your sweat from making contact with the floor (especially useful if the room where you perform your workouts is carpeted).
Today: Planks. Continue reading Exercising at Home
I have always struggled with my weight. Unlike many, my challenge was always gaining weight rather than losing it. I have been working out for a while now and you can see my pictures below. I know I look skinny, but believe or not, I have made some progress. Continue reading My Goals
Last week we focused on abs, triceps and chest exercises. Today we’ll focus on our lower body. After all, it is not very attractive having a huge upper body with skinny legs.

Squats are simple exercises that can be performed anywhere. Stand feet shoulder-width apart. Lower your body bending your knees (your back should be arched a little). Ideally you should go down as much as you can while keeping this safe posture. Slowly lift your body back to the starting position and repeat.
