First of all I would like to apologize; my site has been basically abandoned for a little over a year. I know there are no excuses for this, when life got rough on me I just kind of let everything fade into oblivion.
I lost connections and friends but in the process I found myself.
My 27 year old sister’s cancer diagnosis changed my life in an instant. In the moments after I learned about her condition my priorities changed; I made some good moves and some mistakes.
This is what I learned from this painful experience:
- Never take your loved ones for granted
- Spend time with those you love, and tell them you love them
- What’s really important in your life?
- How are your current actions/decisions getting you closer to living the life you want?
- Are your friends really your friends?
I got to spend time with my sister while she was at the hospital recovering from surgery and got to see her really coming back from what it looked like the other side. I saw her getting well and then going through chemo, and then giving up chemo because of the dreadful side effects.
I got to know my sister better during these months than I had known her before she was diagnosed with colon cancer.
She is doing well today, she is back at work and living her life as if nothing happened, she really taught me a lesson here! “No matter what you have to keep going.”
So here I am. I keep on going, and if you are one of the old readers of this blog I hope you’ll stick with me for this second round. Thanks for reading! Guillermo.
