Do You Have an Exercise Plan?

Most of us have tried at some point or another to get in shape and stay in shape. I have tried to get in shape before many times, and I have been consistently good at failing. Why?

Willpower is a powerful fuel. It will make you do things that can benefit you, things that you really want to do. Maybe you have the willpower and will get up one morning and go out for a jog. For two, three days, or one week. But what about when it rains? Or when you did not have a good night? Unfortunately willpower is temporary. You should take advantage of willpower and use it to create a plan that will allow you to continue your path long after willpower is gone.

Create an exercise plan. Start by setting your goals.  Set a reasonable goal and give yourself plenty of time to achieve it. For example if you want to lose weight ask yourself how much? When do you think you will attain your goal? As a general rule, plan to lose one pound per week following a weight loss program that you designed yourself as part of your exercise plan.

Whatever exercises you decide to do, do them regularly, at least three times a week, for 45 minutes each day.

Write it down. What’s your starting weight? What”s your weight loss goal? Your muscle gain goal?

Track your progress. Weight yourself in a week. Are you achieving your weekly goals (remember one pound?) If you haven’t lost one pound in a week, pay special attention to your diet. You may need to cut some more calories.

You may lose 8 pounds in two months, 16 pounds in 4 months! Did you ever tell yourself that you were going to get in shape by summer? This  is your chance!

An exercise plan is the key to your fitness success. It works, try it.
