Home Workout Equipment

The beauty of working out at home is that there are no gym memberships to pay, and no excuses as to why you could not make it to the gym among others.

If you are serious about building muscle a well equipped home gym will be necessary, but for everyone else the TV room can become the exercise room between 8 and 9 pm.

I stopped by a store that sells gym equipment today to see what they had and how much it cost.

I found a 12 lb medicine ball for $45, and a 25 lb dumbbell for $40. Fitness equipment can be expensive, you will need at the very least two dumbbells, but as your body gets used to exercising (you make progress) new equpiment will be necessary, not to mention that as you accumulate more and more equipment an entire room will need to be devoted to this activity. Do you have an extra room to use as your workout room?

For those just begining to train, or whising to get started on a weight loss program, home can be the right place to start. There are many exercises that do not require any equipment and are guaranteed to make you sweat. Think abs, arms, legs. Can you jump?

I would suggest stacking your home workout room with a yoga mat, a Swiss ball (big ball, very light), a medicine ball (size of a basketball, but quite heavy), and some light weight dumbbells to get you started. Most people have some of these at home – I think – or if you go buy them you may spend about $100 (assuming you get a good deal).

What I am trying to say is that if you have not started your workout program because you are not member of a gym, you should start at home. You will probably do the same at home as you would at the gym anyways, because it takes your body some time to get used to working out.

Starting out is the most difficult part. Hopefully, if you do not enjoy working out you have somebody that can drag you to do your exercises as I had when I began working out. I always had an excuse, too much work, I am too tired, I have too many things to do… well you know…

But please make no excuses and start moving, it will change your life.
