Yes, you read that right, vitamin B-6 is officially a drug. The FDA banned today pyridoxamin, which is a naturally occuring form of vitamin B-6. It is not clear yet what will happen with all the multivitamins that contain B-6, since there are two other forms of vitamin B-6.
Avocado, potatoes, beef and pork are just a few of the foods that naturally contain vitamin B-6.
Some suggest that the intake of vitamin B6 could diminish the risk of Parkinson’s disease by about 50% according to a study from the Netherlands.
It is now officially illegal to buy vitamin b6 without a prescription. I wonder if they have already been taken off the shelves. I am going to go to the supermarket and check. I will post my findings later!
Update: I was able to find vitamin B-6 still available at Trader Joe’s. Maybe they will be removed later???
