What is Protein Good For?

Although most people know what protein is good for, a quick recap cannot hurt. We will also see how to get more of it. Let’s start!

Protein builds muscles! It”s just that simple. Most experts and bodybuilders recommend consuming about 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight to obtain the best results.

For example if you weight 180 lbs, you would consume 180 grams of protein.

Let’s be clear about one thing though. Protein won’t get you bigger arms or chest on itself. You must put it to work. But guess what, that is the easy part!

Get out there, move, go to the gym, lift some weight, whatever you can. You’ll notice that in the beginning lifting will be quite difficult, even with light weights. You must give your body a chance to get used to exercise. Never overdo it with weights heavier than you can safely lift. You could hurt yourself.

Protein sounds really good, and is good for most people, however if you have any kidney disease you should consult with your doctor before beginning any new diet, high protein included.

Remember to split your total calories (proteins included) throughout your day, 5 or 6 small meals will yield best results. Make sure to have protein before and after your workout. Eggs, meats, soy are excellent sources of protein. If you do not feel like having a meal everytime you need protein try whey protein shakes.

Let’s shape up!
